Highlights:
George REEVE was born at Matlock Derbyshire England May 12 1826, son of
Thomas and Martha (BUCKLEY) REEVE. His father was an ironworker and with
George STEPHENSON built the first locomotive in England. His material
grandfather, Thomas BUCKLEY, was an English excise officer. Of the five
children, only George and a sister survived.

In 1847 George left his native land and landed in New Orleans on Mar 17th.
Trained as a butcher, he went to Burlington, IA and engaged in pork-packing.

On March 8, 1849, he started on the overland journey to California with a
bull team. He arrived at Hangtown in July of that year. He turned his
attention to farming, first at Sulpher Spring Valley and afterward at Napa.
He was the pioneer fruit man in Napa. He sold that property and went to
Grangeville, Tulare County.

In 1848 he married Miss Annie KIRK, native of England and daughter of Edward
KIRK. Their son, James, died at 24 years of age. Annie is the wife of Edward
JEROME, Grangeville, Elizabeth, wife of Joseph TILTON, Grangeville and Mary
is the wife of William MUSHMIRE.

Mrs. Elizabeth Reeve TILTON was born in England Mar 2 1848, the daughter of
George REEVE, a California Pioneer. She came to CA in 1853, with her parents
who settled first in Napa county. She married Mr. TILTON in Solano County
June 6 1866.
Six children, five surviving as of 1929:

Frank E. TILTON
George L. TILTON
J. Wesley TILTON
Birdie (deceased)


Mrs. TILTON is further survived by ten grandchildren and six
g-grandchildren.

Joseph Ellsworth TILTON was born in Noble County OH Dec 6 1834. At 24 he
began teaching as a calling and taught four terms in the vicinity of his
home.

He came to CA in 1860 by the Panama route. By his marriage to Elizabeth
REEVE he became father to six children:
Addie T.(Mrs. M. D. ROBINSON), Josephine T. (Mrs. George H. ROGERS), Mary
Jane, Franklin E., George L. and John Wesley TILTON. The youngest daughter
died at the age of 18.
