Bay County Memorial Report W.R. McCormick Mrs. Mary E. Tilton,
Mrs, Mary E. Tilton, wife of William M Tilton, departed this life on January 19, 1889, at 5:30 p.m. at the family residence, corner of Fith avenue and Adams street, Bay City, age sixty - three years. For something like a year and a half past the venerable lady, whose name has brought good cheer to many a family in dispair in Bay City during the past quarter of a centry, has been suffering with consumption.
She leaves to mourn her demise a husband and five children. Mrs. Mary. E. Tilton was born at St John, N. B, and was united in marriage to William M. Tilton some forty-three years ago. The young couple moved to Bay City in 1864, when it was nothing but a hamlet, and together watched the rapid growth of the town.
Mary married William M. Tilton, son of Joseph Tilton and Abigail Brooks, about 1851 in Unknown. (William M. Tilton was born in 1833 in Tecumseh Lenawee MI and died on an unknown date.)
