From Descendants of Jesse Hudson and Related Families by Jewel Norman Hudson, 1957:

James Sanders Hudson, youngest child of Jesse Hudson and Matilda Everett Hudson, was born December 15, 1842, on what was later known as the "B Hampton" place on George's Creek west of Yellville, Arkansas (Marion County). Before marriage, he served as a Confederate soldier in the Civil War, probably under the command of General Sterling Price, the commanding officer in northwest jArkansas. It is reported that he, at one time, served in the same company with his brother John B. Hudson. in 1917 or 1919, he was granted a pension by a Special Act of the Arkansas Legislature for service in the Confederate Army. About 1865, he married Eliza Elizabeth Thomason, daughter of pioneer Henry Thomason, and sister of Adaline Thompson, who married his brother, Jeremiah Hudson.
