John E. Stillwell, M.D., "Tilton of New Jersey", page 209 states that John Henry was the son of Steelman Tilton who was married to Hannah M. Morse. He was the grandson of Espress Tilton b. 10/30/1782 d. 2/2/1859 and Hannah Steelman b. 8/25/1783 d. 6/2/1864 and the great grandson of Daniel Tilton.

John married Elizabeth H. Morris, daughter of Robert Bennett Morris and Rebecca Youmans, on 5 Jun 1862 in Englishtown Monmouth New Jersey. (Elizabeth H. Morris was born in 1842 in Monmouth New Jersey, died in May 1920 in Neptune City Monmouth New Jersey and was buried Mount Prospect Cemetery in Neptune City Monmouth New Jersey, Find A Grave #5645359.)
