[p.150] Ashbel Hosmer (1758-1812) served as corporal in Capt. SamuelGranger's company, Conne cticut Line. In 1797 he was an invalidpensioner, being disabled, 1781, in service.

Abraham Payne (1722-1801), a patriot, served on important committeesduring the Revolution. H e was born in Canterbury, Conn.; died inHamilton, N. Y.
Samuel Emerson (1707-93) signed the Association Test and turned out atthe Lexington Alarm. H e was born in Haverhill, Mass.; died in Chester,N. H.
Nathaniel Emerson (1741-1824) commanded a company at the Lexington Alarmand served as lieute ntant-colonel at the battle of Bennington. He wasborn in Chester; died in Candia, N. H.
