Manerva Belle Hudson

  General Notes:

Manerva Belle Hudson, fifth child of James Sanders Hudson and
Eliza Elizabeth Thomason Hudson, was born January 11, 1876, in the
George's Creek Community west of Yellville, Arkansas (Marion County).
On January 11, 1895, she married Epheram Hosier Tilton and established
residence on his homestead north of Pyatt, Arkansas (Marion County).
Manerva Belle divorced Mr. Tilton in 1923. After her mother's death, she
lived with her father on his homestead farm. In 1924, her father purchased the hotel at Pyatt, Arkansas, and she moved there with him to
help operate the hotel.
About 1925, Manerva Belle married Ben Tryon. This marriage ended
in divorce after a few months. On March 10, 1927, she married William
P. Ransom. Her father died in 1928 and she continued to operate the
hotel. After divorcing William P. Ransom, she married Fred Lumberg
in 1943.
In 1947, Manerva Belle sold the hotel at Pyatt, Arkansas, and moved
to Puxico, Missouri (Stoddard County) where her daughter Eliza Elizabeth Tilton Looney resided. She later purchased a home near that of her
daughter and now (1957) resides there.

James Sanders Hudson was born to Matilda and Jesse Hudson on 15 December 1842 at George's Creek in Marion County.Before marriage he served as a Confederate soldier.Around the time the war ended, he married Eliza Elizabeth Thomason, whose sister Adaline married James's brother Jeremiah.James was postmaster at George's Creek, operated a store in connection with the post office, and freighted merchandise by wagon from the nearest train station, which was at Springfield, Missouri.Around 1900 he sold the store and moved to his homestead on George's Creek.There the family lived until Eliza Elizabeth died on 2 March 1923.Soon afterward, James bought the hotel in Pyatt, Arkansas.He and his daughter Manerva Belle operated the hotel until James died 8 September 1928.He and Eliza Elizabeth are buriedin the George's Creek Cemetery.They had five children:[17
