Ira D. Calkins, well-known farmer and produce buyer for many years for W.E. Moulton, produce dealer of Alexander, N.Y., died Sunday noon at Johnsonburg, NY, following a short illness.
He was born, March 11, 1856, in the Town of Sheldon, NY, and was the son of Ezra P. and Arthunia (Shaw) Calkins. His wife Emma Tilton Calkins, died in April 1931. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George Reynolds of Arcade, NY, Mrs. Floyd Taylor of LeRoy, NY, and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Calkins of Arcade, and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. John Walker of Varysburg, NY, officiating. Burial took place in the Johnsonburg Cemetery.
