.In 1850, she moved with her family to Limerick, Maine, and they stayed there until 1854, when they moved to Sanbornton, New Hampshire. Abigail (or "Abbie") assuredly had a difficult life. Being one of the oldest child of a Baptist minister, it can be assumed she had a lot of responsibilities. Then in 1858, when she was 15 years old, her mother died and she became the oldest woman in the household, being the one to care for all of the young children until her father's marriage 2 years later. Besides her public school education, Abigail was also educated at the New Hampton and the Tilton Seminary schools.
Abigail was married on October 9, 1864 in Sanbornton, to John B. Wadleigh, from a prominent family in the area. The two settled down on the Wadleigh farm in Sanbornton. Together they had 5 children: Oscar, John, Fred, Helen and Inez. Abigail and John were avid members of the First Baptist Church in Sanbornton for the remainder of their lives. She served as church clerk for many years. In 1878, they moved out of the house in Sanbornton and moved into a new house closer to the "center" of the town. Abigail continued living in their farmhouse in Sanbornton, where her husband John died in 1912. In her old health she could not care for the house by herself and in 1928, she was compelled to move into the home of her daughter Inez Wadleigh Blake, who lived in neighboring Franklin, New Hampshire. Abigail died there on July 20, 1929. She was buried in the Franklin Cemetery, Franklin, New Hampshire.
