A very sad death occurred here on Friday night, when Mrs. Clara Tilton passed from this life to a brighter one above. She had been in poor health for some time, but only took to her bed on Wednesday. Dr. Stanton was called and he said that she had a tumor and on Friday, Dr. Mann of Buffalo, was called to perform an operation, which proved fatal, as she only lived a half hour afterwards. The funeral was held on Monday. She is survived by a husband and two sons, a mother, and a number of brothers and sisters, besides a host of friends. The floral tribute from the L.O.T.M. was grand. The bereaved family has the heartfelt sympathy of the whole community.

Clara married Russell Stone Tilton, son of Obediah Tilton and Louis Stone, in 1874 in New York. (Russell Stone Tilton was born on 18 Apr 1849 in Orangeville Wyoming Co NY, died on 26 Sep 1939 in Bethany Center Genesee New York and was buried Johnsonburg Cemetery in Johnsonburg Wyoming Co NY, Find A Grave #35269580.)
