On Friday January 4, 2019, Inez Tilton (Peaches) was called home to her eternal rest after a long illness. She transitioned at home surrounded by family and friends.



She was a native of Newport News, VA., where she attended and graduated from George Washington Carver High School with the Class of 1963. She met and married Edward L. Tilton August 31, 1964. From this union two beautiful children were born. Inez was a devoted member of the G. W. Carver Alumni Association serving as President and Secretary during her lifelong membership. Inez graduated from Riverside School of Nursing.



Working as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years for Riverside Hospital and (Sentara) Hampton General Hospital before becoming a School Nurse for Newport News Public Schools assigned to Warwick High where she retired in 2002. After her retirement she enjoyed working as a Foster Grand-Parent until her illness.



In her spare time Peaches love to set up bus trips to local high school football championship games, professional football games, tours to amusement parks, and museums, as well as to the different casinos.



Inez was preceded in death by her husband Edward Tilton, her parents George and Inez Davis, her sister Mary Kelly, brothers George Davis Jr., James and Eugene Davis.



She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Michelle (Robert) Long, son Stephen (Shenelle) Tilton, grand-children Stephen Tilton, Jr., Monica Long, Jai Nuten and Joshua Browne. Two sisters Joyce Davis and Helen Davis Williams, Three brothers Robert Davis, Jack Davis, and Izell (Sharon) Davis. Sisters-in-love Jeanette Davis and Carol Davis. A host of special nieces, great nieces, nephews, and great nephews whom she loved and cherished. As well as a host of other relatives and friends.



Services for Mrs. Inez Tilton will be held 11:00a.m. Saturday January 12, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church 1415 Big Bethel Rd. Hampton, VA.



Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens



Viewing for Mrs. Inez Tilton will be held noon- 6p.m. Friday January 11, 2019 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc. 3314 Roanoke Ave. Newport News, VA. 23607

The family of the late Mrs. Inez Tilton has entrusted her final care to the staff at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.

Inez married Edward Lee Tilton 3-Rd, son of Edward Lee Tilton Jr and Anna Frances Russo, on 31 Aug 1964 in Virginia. (Edward Lee Tilton 3-Rd was born on 27 Nov 1940 in Isle Of Wight Virginia, died on 27 Feb 2002 in Newport News Virginia and was buried Hampton Memorial Garden in Hampton City Virginia Find A Grave #179901781.)
