Richard was a carpenter in Boston, a volunteer in the Pequot War before 1637 He bought half of a corn mill at Hingham in 1653 and was a town officer there He died at the home of his son,Caleb. His will is dated 25 Dec 1668 and mentions a share in the Iron works at Tauton for his wife, Elizabeth Son Joseph was to receive a double portion of the estate due to the lameness of his hand.
The wife of one of his sons was accused of witchcraft in Salem. Because of the prominence of the family, it was hushed up, and was the beginning of the end for the witch madness in the area.
Richard married Elizabeth Warren, daughter of Richard Warren and Elizabeth Walker, between 1636 and 1637 in Plymouth, Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States.
